The following image is the fruit of an attempt to do a reproduction of an antique statue (one of Antinous’), hoping that starting from simple forms, I could train myself to better visualize and represent human anatomy.

Quickly enough though, facetious spirits, probably inspired by Michelangelo’s unfinished (non finito) slaves, emerging from their mass of stone, wondered whether it would be possible to come to a more realistic representation starting from the same pose, without wanting to discard the initial basis though.

As I finished this painting, a new idea came to me. What would be its context, its story?

And one night, I found that it could very well be a tale,… why not?

All it has to do is to begin with the “once upon a time” line.

Finally, I make up my mind to throw some lines upon the keyboard, and I discover that the matter far outstretches the initial context set up by the image.
